Yews turned into Birch Bushes

From Yews to Birch Bushes

My least favorite Evergreens are Yews and Boxwoods. The previous owner had these Yews over 8 feet tall; which nearly covered the windows.

In September (top picture), I trimmed them back to where they were just above the windows.

Today, I cut them down to the limbs, and painted it white so that it resembles 2 Birch Bushes (bottom picture). Even up close, it looks like peeling white bark instead of paint.

I like it, and it was so much easier than cutting the Yews down. It would take years for a new plant to fill in the entire space.

By the way, that isn’t white paint on the brick. It is just how it aged after being covered by those Yews for decades.
